About the SleepingSalesman
The SleepingSalesman is a powerful sales tool which allows your customers to browse your vehicle stock while not actually being present at your premises.
The name "Sleeping Salesman" derives from the automotive sales industry and is used to indicate any sales channel that can be used to help sell vehicles without necessarily having a person present.
There is no technical limitation in the system to how many vehicles you can display. This means that no matter the size of your business, SleepingSalesman can suit your needs.
One major benefit of the SleepingSalesman is you pay a one-off fee, whether you use it for 10 vehicles or 10,000 the cost to you is the same.
Through us, SleepingSalesman is readily customisable to fit the needs of your specific business. What's more, if we feel the customisation is relevant to other SleepingSalesman users we will charge a discounted rate.
SleepingSalesman Components
SleepingSalesman is made up of two distinct parts. The first part, called the "Front End" is what your customers see on your website.
The second part is the administration module or "Back End". This part allows you to add/edit and remove vehicles from your showroom.
SleepingSalesman Versions
There are two versions to the SleepingSalesman. They are named after the technology used to create them.
Flash Version
The original is the "Flash Version". So called because it was written using Flash. While we're not a particular fans of Flash, it does have the benefits of having slick presentation abilities.
Technically, when someone visits your website with SleepingSalesman they, in effect, download the SleepingSalesman application to their PC and run it locally. The Flash version requires your visitors already have Flash installed on their PC before they can view your showroom. While this might sound like a serious barrier to using the Flash version, in reality the vast majority of internet users have Flash installed.
The Back End for the Flash version comprises of a a Windows based application which easily allows you to manage your SleepingSalesman from any Internet connected computer running the tool. We don't restrict licence's for the administration module so if you want to run it in the office or on a laptop this is not a problem.

PHP Version
This is our latest version and is written in the PHP scripting language. PHP is quicker and easier to update and change parts of the system and we've actually stopped development on the Flash version in favour of this.
Technically, when someone visits your showroom built from PHP, the web server itself builds the pages and sends them to the visitor. This has the advantage of not having to worry about whether or not the visitor can actually view your showroom.
