Managing Transmissions

SleepingSalesman can support as many transmissions as you require. It's simply a matter of you adding more as needed.

When SleepingSalesman is first installed, Manual and Automatic are automatically added to your system.

From the Administration menu, select "Add/Remove Transmissions"

You will be presented with the following screen: -

Adding a Transmission

In the box marked "New Transmission" enter the name of the transmission you want to add.
Press the button marked "Add Transmission" to add the transmission to SleepingSalesman. If successful the new transmission will be added to the list.

Notes

We recommend keeping the text formatting the same for all your transmissions. I.E. if they are written as "MANUAL", "Manual" or "manual" then it is best that any new transmission you add, use the same formatting. This is just for consistency and doesn't actually affect the performance of the system.

If you're adding a vehicle that has a transmission not currently in your database then it's best to create the new transmission before creating the vehicle.

Deleting A Transmission

Select the transmission you want to delete from the list marked "Transmissions".
Press the button marked "Delete Selected Transmission".

Notes

When you delete a transmission, you must make sure to update any vehicles assigned to that transmission. Otherwise it will not appear in the searchable list your customers see.

Once you press the "Delete Selected Transmission" button, there is no going back.
